ELLE’S BLOG
Welcome to the cluttered corner of the internet that is my unfiltered thoughts…
Throughout this journey we call life, my love of all things Sci Fi has shaped much of who I am. Hyper-fixating on theoreticals, imagining alternative endings, or even fixing plot holes the screenwriters/authors/developers left in their media, is where my brain lives. (From one neurodivergent to another: some plot holes cannot be fixed, no matter how hard you try, but you could always rewrite the entire episode in your brain at 3am 😉)
Here’s where my author blog comes in—I want my stories to speak to real people, to entertain and amaze with drama and action, while at the same time validating the lived experiences of my readers. Not only do I feel it’s important to hold space for those who have suffered through trauma and abuse, but to see those who haven’t been seen their whole lives. Mental health is more important (and more fragile) now than ever before. Instead of getting into the self-help or psychological real world of it all, I choose to tell my fictional stories through the eyes of trauma survivors.
For me, reading has always been an escape. I hope you can find that for yourself in my books.
And also, I’m fascinated with astronomy, space travel/discovery/exploration/possibilities beyond our own star… The idea I had for the Lucarn (telepathic shapeshifters whose native form is crystalline) highlights how important it is to me that every one of us feel that our thoughts are valid, our outward appearance shouldn’t have to be a mask, and that the unique light we carry is worth sharing with the world.
What will you find here in the Lucent Universe? Sweeping space opera adventures, no spice romance within every trilogy, origins of peoples, hidden secrets, old blood feuds, and the only thing that can pull together a people that have been so torn apart—love.

Time Travel (and why I don’t use it in my novels)
The Science Fiction genre is notorious for its usage (and sometimes over-usage) of the time travel trope. With the stories I write, it might seem a handy plot device, but there is a reason I stay away from it. Read on to find out why…
